Let \(q\geq 3\) be an integer, and \(\chi\) be a Dirichlet character modulo \(q\), \(L(s, \chi)\) denote the Dirichlet \(L\)-function corresponding to \(\chi\). In this paper, the authors proved some early information on the mean value of the Dirichlet \(L\)-functions and gave some new identities for \[ \sum_{\substack{\chi\bmod q\\ \chi(-1)=-1}} \chi(a)|L(1, \chi)|^2, \] where \(a=2\), \(3\), or \(4\). The authors also extended these identities to the case that the integer \(a\) divides \(q-1\).
