The authors provide an error analysis of explicit two step extended Runge-Kutta Nyström (TSERKN) type methods for highly oscillatory systems. They propose a new three stage explicit TSERKN method of fourth order. A global error bound for the new explicit method is derived. Stability and phase properties are discussed. Numerical results are given.
