    Let \(\zeta (z)\) be the Riemann zeta-function. In this paper, the author studies the distribution of values of \(\log \zeta (1/2+it)\). Assuming the Riemann hypothesis, the author deduces \textit{A. Selberg}'s central limit theorem [Avh. Norske Vid. Akad. Oslo I 1944, No. 1, 27 p. (1944; Zbl 0061.08401); Arch. Math. Naturvid. 48, No. 5, 89--155 (1946; Zbl 0061.08402)] with an explicit error term and extends the mod-Gaussian convergence to the complex plane. As corollaries of the main results, two of results (assuming RH) are \[ \frac 1T \int_T^{2T} e^{iv}{\frac{\text{Im} \log \zeta (1/2+it)}{\sqrt{(\log\log T)/2}}} dt =e^{-v^2/2} + v^2 O\left( \frac{\log\log\log T}{\log\log T}\right) +O\left(\frac 1{\log T}\right) \] uniformly for \(|v|\leq \sqrt{\log\log T/\log\log\log T}\), and \[ \frac 1{\log\log T)/2} \log \left( \frac 1T \int_T^{2T} e^{h\mathrm{Im} \log \zeta (1/2+it)} dt \right) \to h^2/2 \] as \(T\to\infty \), for any given \(h\in \mathbb{R}\).
