The continuous function \(\rho: \mathbb{R}\to\mathbb{R}\) is called weight function if \(\lim_{|x|\to\infty} \rho(x)=+\infty\) and \(\rho(x)\geq 1\) for all \(x\in\mathbb{R}\). The weighted space \(B_\rho\) contains the all real-valued functions \(f\) defined on \(\mathbb{R}\) for which \(|f(x)|\leq M_f\cdot\rho(x)\) for every \(x\in\mathbb{R}\) (\(M_f\) is a positive constant depending on \(f\)). The weighted subspace \(C_\rho\) of \(B_\rho\) is given by \(C_\rho= \{f\in B_\rho\mid f\) is continuous on \(\mathbb{R}\}\). The spaces \(B_\rho\) and \(C_\rho\) are Banach spaces with the norm \(\| f\|_\rho= \sup_{x\in\mathbb{R}}\,{|f(x)|\over\rho(x)}\). Now let \(\rho_1\) and \(\rho_2\) be two weight functions satisfying the condition \(\lim_{|x|\to\infty}\,{\rho_1(x)\over \rho_2(x)}= 0\). In the present paper is proved a Korovkin type approximation theorem for a sequence of positive linear operators acting from \(C_{\rho_1}\) into \(B_{\rho_2}\) with the use of a matrix summability method which includes both convergence and almost convergence. The rates of convergence of these operators is also studied.
