The paper deals with the local analytic classification of nonlinear analytic \(q\)-difference equations of the form: \[ x y(q x) = y(x) + b\bigl(y(x),x\bigr). \] The techniques used are mould calculus and arborification, of \textit{J. Ecalle} [Ann. Inst. Fourier 42, No. 1-2, 73--164 (1992; Zbl 0940.32013)]. Not only do they allow a rather complete solution, but they make transparent the reduction to normal form, usually a rather heavy procedure. The method can obviously be extended to some classes of systems, which the author intends to tackle in a future paper.
