The aim of the article is to study the forward dynamics of positive solutions for the non-autonomous scalar logistic equation \[ u_t-\triangle u=\lambda u-b(t)u^p,\;Bu=0,\;u(s)=u_s;p>1, 0<b(t)\leq B_0, \;t\in \mathbb{R} \] under one of Dirichlet \(Bu=0\) or Neumann \(Bu=\frac{\partial u}{\partial n}\) boundary condition. It is supposed that \(b(t)\in C^1(\mathbb{R}),\; \lim\limits_{t \to \infty}\inf b(t)\geq 0, \lim\limits_{t \to \infty} b(t)= 0\) and \(\lambda >\lambda_1\), where \(\lambda_1\) is the principal eigenvalue of \(-\triangle\) under \(Bu=0.\) The stated problem has a unique complete nonnegative trajectory \(u^*(t)\), i.e. a solution of the equation defined for all \(t\in \mathbb{R}\). This trajectory is bounded as \(t\to \infty\), unbounded as \(t\to \infty\), bounded away from zero for all \(t\in \mathbb{R}\), and describes the dynamics of positive solutions of the equation in a pullback sense [\textit{J. A. Langa, J. C. Robinson, A. Suárez}, Int. J. Bifurcation Chaos Appl. Sci. Eng. 15, No. 8, 2663--2669 (2005; Zbl 1092.35514)]. The authors investigate to what extent \(u^*(x,t)\) still describes the forward asymptotic behaviour of positive solutions of the equation. It is shown that several different possibilities are realized in the forward asymptotic regime.
