On accumulations of the point spectra of elliptic problems in domains with cylindrical ends (Q2455190)

The authors deal with a general self-adjoint elliptic boundary value problems in a domain \(\Omega\subset\mathbb{R}^{n+1}\) with cylindrical ends. Under some suitable assumptions on the coefficients they describe the structure of solutions far from the origin. It is shown that the point spectrum of such a problem can gather only under the ``threshold'' values of the spectral parameter, and only at infinity. The authors show that the point spectrum near the accumulations is characterized in terms of a scattering matrix.
