    The structural properties of a function \(f(z)\) in the Hardy space \(H_p\) are characterized be the decay rate of the \(mth\)-order modulus of continuity \[ \omega_m(f^{(r)},t):= \sup \left \{ \left (\frac{1}{2\pi} \int_0^{2 \pi } \left | \sum_{l=0}^m (-1)^l c_m^l f^{(r)} (e^{i(x+lu)}) \right | ^p \, dx \right )^{1/p} : | u| \leq t \right\} \] of the boundary values of \(f^{(r)}(e^{it})\), where the decay rate is defined as a majorant of an averaged value \(\omega_m (f^{(r)} ,t )_p \). In this paper the authors find new sharp inequalities between the best approximation of functions in \(H_p\) (\(1 \leq p \leq 2\)) be the set of complex polynomials of degrees less than \(n\) and averaged higher order moduli of continuity.
