Let \(X,Y\) be Banach spaces with \(X\) and \(Y^\ast\) having the approximation property. Let \({\mathcal U}\) be an operator ideal. A linear subspace \(M \subset {\mathcal U}(X,Y)\) is said to be weakly completely continuous if the left and right multiplication operators from \(M\) to \({\mathcal U}(X,W)\) and \({\mathcal U}(Z,Y)\) are weakly compact for any Banach spaces \(W,Z\). In this paper, the author shows that if all the point evaluation sets \(M_1(x)\) and \(M'_1(y^\ast)\) (the suffix \(1\) denotes the closed unit ball) are relatively weakly compact in \(Y\) and \(X^\ast\), respectively, then \(M\) is weakly completely continuous.
