Let \(p\) be a prime, \(G\) be a finite group and \(H^*(G)\) be its mod\,\(p\) cohomology. We denote by \(d_iG\), \(i=0,1\), the invariants of \(H^*(G)\) defined by \textit{H.-W. Henn, J. Lannes} and \textit{L. Schwartz} [in Math. Ann. 301, No. 1, 23-68 (1995; Zbl 0869.55016)]. The aim of this paper is to discuss the computation of these invariants. Let \(C\) be the maximal central elementary Abelian \(p\)-subgroup of \(G\); the author shows, in particular, that the computation of \(d_0G\) and \(d_1G\) is related, in some sense, to the image of the restriction map: \(H^*(G)\to H^*(C)\). Let \(E\) be any central elementary Abelian \(p\)-subgroup of \(G\), the author proves (result of independent interest) that the subalgebra of \(H^*(E)\)-primitives of the \(H^*(E)\)-comodule \(H^*(G)\), is always Noetherian of Krull dimension equal to \(p\)-rank of \(G\) minus \(p\)-rank of \(E\).
