Let \(p(x,y)\) be a polynomial that defines a local singularity at \(0\in{\mathbb C}^2\). The authors present an algorithm for computing some analytic invariants of the singularity called instantons. Having blowing up \(\pi:\widetilde{\mathbb C^2}\to{\mathbb C^2}\) at the origin a two rank holomorhic vector bundle \(E(j,p)\) over \(\widetilde{\mathbb C^2}\) is considered. It is determined by a splitting number \(j\) (positive integer) and by the extension class \(p(x,y)\). Then a new sheaf \(Q\) is defined by the exact sequence \(0\to\pi_*E\to(\pi_*E)^{\vee\vee}\to Q\to 0\), where \(^{\vee\vee}\) means double dual. The invariants are \(w(E):=l(Q)\) (width of the instanton) and \(h(E):=l(R^1\pi_*E)\) (height of the instanton). For notations see for example \textit{R.~Hartshorne} [Algebraic geometry. Corr. 3rd printing. (1983; Zbl 0531.14001)]. The charge of the instanton \(c=w+h\) is related to Chern classes of the boundle \textit{E. Ballico} and \textit{E. Gasparim}, Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 130, No. 1, 23--32 (2002; Zbl 1042.14013)]. Two examples of nonequivalent singularities with the same value of four classical invariants are presented. This singularities can be distinguished by instantons. The algorithm is implemented for \url{Macaulay 2} [\textit{D. R. Grayson} and \textit{M. E. Stillman}, Algorithms Comput. Math. 8, 41--53 (2002; Zbl 1001.68202)].
