Let \(V\) be a complex vector space with a countable Hamel basis. Let \(SL(V)\) denote the set of complex sesqilinear forms on \(V\times V\). Let \({\mathcal A}\) be a \(\sigma\)-algebra on a set \(\Omega\). Let \(H\) be a Hilbert space having \(V\) as a dense subspace. A mapping \(E:{\mathcal A}\rightarrow L(H)\) is called an operator measure if the set function \(X\rightarrow\langle\phi| E(X)\psi\rangle\) is a complex measure for all \(\phi,\psi\in H\). A mapping \(G:{\mathcal A}\rightarrow SL(V)\) is called a generalized operator measure if \(X\mapsto G(X)(\phi,\psi)\) is a complex measure for all \(\phi,\psi\in V\); it is said to be extensible if \(G\) coincides with an operator measure \(E\). In the present paper, the authors show that \(G\) is extensible if and only it is bounded. For a generalized operator measure \(G\) that arises from an infinite complex matrix \(C\) via the Schur product, they give necessary as well as sufficient conditions under which it is extensible.
