Local approach to higher-order contact elements (Q2456620)

Let \(N\) be an \(n\)-dimensional submanifold of an \(m\)-dimensional manifold \(M\). In this paper, the author defines regular \(n\)-dimensional velocities of order \(r\) and \(n\)-dimensional contact elements of order \(r\) determined by \(N\) and presents their local descriptions. It is proven that the set of regular \(n\)-dimensional velocities of order \(r\) corresponding to all parametric descriptions of a submanifold \(N\) of a manifold \(M\) is identified with a unique \(n\)-dimensional contact element of order \(r\).
