The author takes us on a nice tour of infinite products, starting with Wallis' formula for \(2/\pi\), and culminating in Brouncker's continued fraction formula for \(4/\pi\). Moreover, he shows that Brouncker's and Wallis' formulas may be extended to MacLaurin's sinusoidal spirals by employing Euler products. Indeed, he uses Euler's formula to derive Ramanujan's formula, then uses it to prove that the numerators of convergents of Brouncker's continued fractions are virtually the same as Wilson's orthogonal polynomials (modulo a rotation and corresponding to certain fixed parameters).
