The paper deals with the boundary value problem for difference equations of the type \[ \left\{\begin{aligned} &-\Delta^2y(k-1)=\lambda f(k,y(k)+y_0(k)),\,\,\,k\in [1,T]\\ & y(0)=y(T+1)=0,\end{aligned}\right.\leqno(P) \] where \(T\) is a positive integer (\(T>1\)), \(y_0\) is a real-valued function defined in the discrete interval \([1,T]=\{1,\ldots,T\}\), \(\lambda\) is a real parameter, \(f:[1,T]\times \mathbb{R}\to\mathbb{R}\) is a continuous function, and the second-order difference operator is defined by \(\Delta^2y(k)=y(k+2)-2y(k+1)+y(k)\). Using two multiplicity results by \textit{B. Ricceri} [Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 133, 3255--3261 (2005; Zbl 1069.47068)], the authors prove the existence of some \(y_0\) and \(\lambda\) such that the problem \((P)\) admits at least three solutions.
