Suppose that \(f_{1}, \ldots, f_{r}\) are integer weight newforms with odd, squarefree level and weights \(2k_{1}, \ldots, 2k_{r}\). The main result of this short note is that (under suitable hypotheses on the 2-adic Galois representations associated to newforms of weight \(k_{1} + 1, k_{2} + 1, \ldots, k_{r} + 1\)), the number of \(D \leq X\) for which \[ L(f_{i} \otimes (-1)^{k_{i}} \chi_{D}, k_{i}) \neq 0 \] for all \(i\) is bounded below by some constant times \(\frac{X}{\log X}\). The method of proof is to use the relation of \textit{W. Kohnen} [Math. Ann. 271, 237--268 (1985; Zbl 0542.10018)] between the squares of the Fourier coefficients of forms \(g_{i}\) of weight \(k_{i} + 1/2\) and the twisted central \(L\)-values of the \(f_{i}\)s, together with the observation that \[ g_{i}(z) \left(1 + 2 \sum_{n=1}^{\infty} q^{n^{2}}\right) \] is a form of weight \(k_{i} + 1\), and is also congruent to \(g_{i}(z) \bmod 2\).
