Let \(G\) be a connected semi-simple Lie group with finite center, \(K\) be a maximal compact subgroup, \(G= NAK\) be the Iwasawa decomposition, \(\Gamma\) be a lattice in \(G\), and set \(X= \Gamma\setminus G\), \(Y= X/K\). Let \((\psi_n)_{n\geq 1}\subset L^2(Y)\) be a sequence of normalized eigenfunctions of \(G\)-invariant differential operators on \(G/K\), with eigenvalues (with respect to the Casimir operator) tending to \(\infty\) (in absolute value), and which satisfy some mild nondegeneracy condition. The authors establish the existence of a subsequence \((\psi_{k_n})_{k\geq 1}\), and of functions \(\widetilde\psi_{n_k}\in L^2(X)\) and of measure \(\mu_{n_k}\) on \(X\), such that: (i) the projection of \(\mu_{n_k}\) onto \(Y\) coincides with \(|\psi_{n_k}(y)|^2\, dy\); (ii) \((|\widetilde\psi_{n_k}(x)|^2 \,dx- \mu_{n_k})\) goes weakly to \(O\) (on \(C^\infty_k(X)\)); (iii) any weak limit of \(|\widetilde\psi_{n_k}(x)|^2 \,dx\) is \(A\)-invariant. Moreover, some equivariance property also holds. Such ``\(G\)-equivariant microlocal lift'' from \(Y\) to \(X\) is intended to be a step towards a forthcoming proof, that (in some cases at least) any weak limit in (iii) above has to be the \(G\)-invariant measure \(dx\).
