Wang has defined notions of infinite sums on and convergence of sequences in the fuzzy real line and has discussed the relationship between convergence of infinite sums and convergence of sequences. But only sufficient conditions, in terms of alpha-cut sets, were presented. In this paper, the authors give a necessary and sufficient condition for a sequence in the fuzzy real line to be convergent and prove that fuzzy convergence of sequences is equivalent to weak convergence. As an application, the convergence of sequences of fuzzy numbers taken in the sense of Chang and Zadeh is discussed.
