The main object of the paper under review is the quotient \(X=X^D/w_m\) of a Shimura curve by the Atkin--Lehner involution corresponding to a divisor \(m\) of an integer \(D\) which is the product of an even number of distinct primes. The authors focus on a particular case where \(D=pq\), \(m=q\), \(p\) and \(q\) are odd primes. They are interested whether the set of rational points \(X(\mathbb Q)\) is ``trivial'', i.e. consists only of CM points. In the ``unramified'' case (in the terminology of \textit{A.~P. Ogg} [Prog. Math. 59, 199--217 (1985; Zbl 0581.14024)]), where \(p\equiv 1\pmod 4\) and \(q\equiv 3 \pmod 4\), they construct an explicit infinite family of \(X's\) as above that may have only trivial rational points (although these curves may have local points at every point of bad reduction). Moreover, they prove that in fact \(X(\mathbb Q)\) is empty. In the ``ramified'' case, where \(p\equiv 1 \pmod 4\), results of similar flavour were recently obtained by V.~Rotger.
