Turán inequalities and zeros of orthogonal polynomials (Q2458961)

The paper is devoted to find bounds on the extreme zeros of orthogonal polynomials in terms of the coefficients of their three term recurrence relation. Turán type inequalities are used to obtain first order bounds for symmetric polynomials. Sufficient conditions for the validity of higher order Turán inequalities are obtained and the corresponding second order bounds are derived for a vast class of symmetric orthogonal polynomials with a nondecreasing sequence of coefficients.
