The main object of the paper under review is a split smooth del Pezzo surface \(S\) defined over the field of rational numbers \(\mathbb Q\). The author is interested in Manin's conjecture on asymptotic behaviour of the number of rational points of \(S\) of bounded height. According to \textit{E.~Peyre} [Duke Math. J. 79, 101--218 (1995; Zbl 0901.14025)], the leading constant in this conjectural asymptotics is expected to be the product of three factors reflecting geometric, algebraic, and arithmetical properties of \(S\), respectively. The author's goal is to compute the first factor \(\alpha (S)\) which can be defined as the volume of a certain polytope in the cone dual (with respect to the intersection form) to the effective cone of \(S\). This is done by getting the most precise information on the above mentioned dual cone which allows one to obtain a recursive formula for \(\alpha (S)\). Similar results are obtained for split singular del Pezzo surfaces whose singularities are rational double points (where Manin's conjecture and the definition of \(\alpha (S)\) are modified accordingly).
