This paper deals with a boundary value problem of the form \[ (\phi_p(u'))'+\lambda f(t,u) =0,\quad \alpha_1 u(0)-\beta_1 \phi_p(u'(0))=0,\quad \alpha_2 u(1)+\beta_2 \phi_p(u'(1))=0, \] where \(\phi_p(s)=| s| ^{p-2}s, p>1\) and \(\alpha_1,\alpha_2,\beta_1,\beta_2\) are positive constants. In the main result, the existence of at least one positive solution is obtained assuming that there are two constants \(a,b\) with \(a>b\) such that \(0<r\leq \lambda f(t,x) \leq a\) for \(b \leq x \leq a\) (\(r_1,r_2\) are two constants depending in a technical way of \(a,b , \alpha_1,\alpha_2,\beta_1,\beta_2).\) The proof is based on a variant of Krasnosel'skii's fixed point theorem in cones.
