Let \(R\) be a ring with identity. A right \(R\)-module \(M\) is called self-small if the covariant functor \(\Hom(M_R,-)\) commutes with direct sums of copies of \(M\). This concept was introduced by \textit{D. M. Arnold} and \textit{C. E. Murley} [in Pac. J. Math. 56, 7-20 (1975; Zbl 0337.13010)]. In this paper, right strongly steady rings are defined. In fact, a ring \(R\) is said to be right strongly steady if every right self-small module is finitely generated. It is shown that for a commutative nonsingular ring \(R\), \(R\) is Artinian if and only if \(R\) is semisimple if and only if \(R\) is (right) strongly steady. Further, it is proved that: semisimple rings, commutative perfect rings and right nonsingular \(\Sigma\)-extending rings are right strongly steady; a commutative Noetherian ring is (right) strongly steady if and only if it is Artinian.
