The paper studies the problem of collective action from the standpoint of analytic philosophy. It argues that traditional analyses fall prey to two flaws: either they reduce collective action to a set of individual actions (thus leaving out team thinking), or worse they introduce intentions ranging over the actions of others. The paper offers a rendition of \textit{J. R. Searle} [``Collective intentions and actions''. in: Intentions in communication. MIT Press, Cambridge, 401--415 (1990)] which avoids both these flaws.
