Consider the LiƩnard system \[ {dx\over dt}= y,\quad{dy\over dt}=-\mu[F(y)- E(t)]- x,\tag{\(*\)} \] where \(F\) and \(E\) are Lipschitzian, \(\mu\) is a positive parameter. The authors aim to estimate the location of the attractors of \((*)\). For this purpose they construct a comparison system with discontinuous right-hand side. The new approach is applied to the van der Pol equation.
