The authors consider the motion of a charged particle constrained by an hyperbolic plane \(L\) embedded in a magnetic field, encoded by means of the Hamiltonian equation. The problem is restricted to a compact orientable surface \(M\), (i.e., surface of constant negative curvature, \(K=-1\), and genus \(g>1\)), obtained as quotient of \(L\) by a freely acting subgroup \(\Gamma\) of the isometry group. (Isometries of \(L\) take trajectories to trajectories.) The dynamics of such a system can be encoded by considering on \(T^*M\) a function \(H_M=p^2/2\) and the symplectic structure \(\Omega=dp_i\wedge dx^i+w\pi^* dS\), where \(\pi:T^*M\to M\) is the canonical projection, \(dS\) is the volume form on \(M\) and \(w\) is a function identifying, with \(dS\), the magnetic field as a closed \(2\)-form. In some previous papers by Comet and Hedlung, (quoted in this work), it was proved that the motion of a charged particle on \(L\) coincides with the motion along curves of constant curvature. The problem on the classical motion on a closed orientable surface \(M\) of constant negative curvature in the magnetic field was also studied by Taimanov proving that the system is integrable for \(E<E_{cr}=w^2/2\). (See also the book by Bolsinov and Fomenko quoted in the paper.) The corresponding quantum system is identified by means of a Schrödinger operator defined on \(L_2(L)\). The reduction on \(M\) is obtained by an operator acting on sections of an \(U(1)\)-bundle over \(M\) endowed with connection form \(\alpha\) whose curvature is just \(iwdS\). (There exists a connection with this property, provided that the total curvature flux through \(M\) is an integer \(n={{w(2g-2)}\over{h}}\in{\mathbb Z}\), identified by the first Chern class of the chosen bundle. The bundle also depends on \(2g\) parameters \(\lambda_i\) in \(H^1(M,U(1))\cong U^{2g}(1)\), known as Aharonov-Bohm vortices, and to each bundle there corresponds its own connection \(\alpha\); therefore, associated with the surface \(M\) is the family of operators \(\widehat{H}_M=h^2\widehat{H}_{M,n}(\lambda_i)\), each of which acts on \(L_2\)-sections of the respective bundle.) The spectrum, resolvent and eigenfunctions of the operator \(\widehat{H}\) on the hyperbolic plane were studied in some previous papers by Ferapontov, Veselov, Comtet, Houston (quoted in the paper). The main result of the present work is the construction of a semiclassical approximation describing the spectrum and the degeneration of the spectrum of the quantum Hamiltonian \(\widehat{H}\) in the integrable domain \(E<E_{cr}\). In order to obtain this result Authors use the procedure given by Maslov's theory of canonical operator and complex germ. (See quoted references by Karasev and Maslov.)
