Nondegenerate saddles and nonmixing transformations. II (Q2460518)

This paper studies flows with the property that they can be written as special flows over a rearrangement of segments of the circle with roof functions of the shape \[ f_0(x)+\sum_{i=1}^{N} \big(-A_i\log\{x-x_i\}-B_i\ln\{ x_i-x\}\big) \] with \(f_0\) of bounded variation, \(A_i,B_i>0\) and a symmetry condition \(\sum_{i=1}^{N}A_i=\sum_{i=1}^{N}B_i\). In some cases the rearrangement of the circle arising may be a rotation, and for this case it is shown that the resulting special flows is not mixing. In contrast, if all the singularities are of power type then any special flow over an ergodic rearrangement of the segments is mixing by work of the author [Mat. Sb., N. Ser. 96(138), 471--502 (1975; Zbl 0321.28012)]. Detailed proofs will appear elsewhere.
