The authors present a criterion for the maximal monotonicity of the composition operator \(T=A^*SA\), where \(S: Y \to Y^{\prime}\) is a maximal monotone set-valued mapping and \(A: X \to Y\) a continuous linear mapping with the adjoint \(A^*\), and \(X\) and \(Y\) are reflexive Banach spaces.
