Let \(X\) be a locally compact separable metric space and \(m\) a positive Radon measure on \(X\) with full support. Let \(\mathcal L\) be an \(m\)-symmetric Markov generator and \(\mu\) a signed measure. The author considers a Schrödinger type operator \({\mathcal H}^\mu = -{\mathcal L}+\mu\) on \(L^p(m)\) and the corresponding semigroup \(p_t^\mu=e^{-tH^\mu}\) with continuous transition density \(p_t(x,y)\) such that \(p_tf(x)=\int_X p_t(x,y)f(y)\,dm(y)\). Define the spectral bound of \(p_t^\mu\) by \[ \lambda_p(\mu)=-\lim_{t\to\infty}{1\over t}\log \| p_t^\mu \| _{p,p},\quad 1\leq p\leq \infty. \] It is assumed that \(\mu\) is a Green-tight measures, i.e., for any \(\epsilon>0\) there exists a compact set \(K\) such that \(\sup_{x\in X}\int_{K^c}\int_0^\infty p_t(x,y)\,dt\,d\mu(y)<\epsilon\). Under certain additional conditions for the semigroup \(p_t\), it is proved that the \(L^p\)-spectral bound of \({\mathcal H}^\mu\) is independent of \(p\) if and only if the \(L^2\)-spectral bound is nonpositive.
