Orientation of Fredholm maps (Q2461365)

This paper presents a notion of orientation for \(C^1\) Fredholm maps of index zero from an open subset of a Banach space into itself. In the literature, there exist many different definitions of orientation of a map that have been designed for different settings. However, in some of these frameworks, when more than one such construction is applicable, they may disagree even on the class of functions that are to be considered orientable. This interesting paper considers several approaches to the orientation of \(C^1\)-Fredholm maps of index zero from an open subset of a Banach space into itself, and shows that in this `flat' setting, all corresponding classes of orientable maps coincide.
