The Authors study regularity of generalized solutions of a quasilinear elliptic equation of p-harmonic type. The minimum eigenvalue of the leading part degenerates as \(\exp (-| x| ^2/2)\). Regularity results are obtained via truncation technique and peculiar properties of the Hardy-Littlewood maximal operator. Moreover, the degree of regularity is measured through the degree of degeneracy of the operator.
