The t-norm based fuzzy logics usually have besides their strong conjunction connective, which is defined by their basic (left-continuous) t-norm \(T\), an implication connective, which is defined by the corresponding residuation operation \(I_T\). And there is a 1-1 correspondence between both types of binary operations. But the definition of this residuation mainly needs only the left-continuity. So the authors' first point is to generalize this construction and to characterize the residuation operations \(I_T\) for more general classes of left-continuous binary operations like copulas or semi-copulas by simple properties. Additionally, they discuss how transformations of these binary basic operations, like ordinal sums or order isomorphic rescalings of the unit interval, act on the corresponding residuation operations. This leads them to transformations of such residuation operations. And such operations on residuation operations they use to come back to new kinds of basic operations.
