    The present paper deals with a \(\Gamma\) convergence result for a functional in one variable. More precisely, the main result gives an approximation of the functional, defined on \(BV(a,b)\), with \((a,b)\) a bounded interval of the real line, \[ F(u)=\int_a^b \Phi(|u^\prime(x)|)\,dx+ \sum_{x\in S_u}f(|u^+(x)-u^-(x)|)+c_0 |D^cu|(a,b), \] with \(\Phi\) positive increasing convex function and \(f\) positive concave function such that \[ \lim_{t\to +\infty}\frac{\Phi(t)}{t}=\lim_{t\to0^+}\frac{f(t)}{t}=c_0>0. \] The approximation is obtained via non-local integrands of the form \[ F_\varepsilon (u)=\frac{1}{\varepsilon}\int_a^b f_\varepsilon \left( \varepsilon -\!\!\!\!\!\!\!\int_{(x-\varepsilon,x+\varepsilon)\cap (a,b)}|u'(t)|\,dt \right) \,dx, \] with \(f_\varepsilon\) non-decreasing continuous such that \(f_\varepsilon(0)=0\), \(f_\varepsilon\) concave in \((a_\varepsilon,+\infty)\) with \(a_\varepsilon\to 0\), \[ \lim_{(\varepsilon,t)\to (0,0)}\frac{f_\varepsilon(t)}{\varepsilon \Phi(\frac{t}{\varepsilon})} \] and \(f_\varepsilon(t)\to f(t)\) uniformly on the compact subsets of \([0,+\infty)\).
