In 2002, \textit{W. M. Kantor} [Adv. Geom. 2, No. 2, 197--200 (2002; Zbl 0998.51003)] and \textit{K. Thas} [Adv. Geom. 2, No. 2, 189--196 (2002; Zbl 0998.51004)] independently proved that any generalized quadrangle \(Q\) of order \(s \geq 2\) is isomorphic to the generalized quadrangle \(W(s)\) of totally isotropic points and lines of a symplectic polarity of PG\((3,s)\) if \(Q \) has a hyperbolic line all of whose points are centers of symmetry. The author improves this result by showing that this result is still true if there is hyperbolic line in \(Q\) containing regular points only. This is proved by showing that in this case all points are in fact centers of symmetry. The tool for the proof is a coordinatization method by means of a Steiner system \((P,L)\), some set \(X\) and a map \(\Delta : P \times P \to \text{Sym}(X)\).
