A technique to improve the efficiency index of one-point iterative processes is introduced. From a family of one-point methods with order of convergence at least three, a family of multipoint iterations is constructed via the inclusion of parameters in the iteration function. This family has order of convergence at least four and has the advantage that it does not need to evaluate derivatives of order higher than one. Furthermore, this includes as particular cases the well-known Jarrat's method and inverse-free Jarrat's method. Numerical examples are given.
