Simulation study of dissimilarity between point processes (Q2463659)

The aim of the paper is to review and compare the most classical indices in ecology. It is based on the idea that knowledge of the biological mechanisms involved within a forest can be inferred from the spatial localization of the trees. Therefore the trees' localization summarized as a point process and dissimilarity indices between point processes can be used. The authors present various dissimilarity indices and provide guidelines for practical use. They also provide intensive simulations using an R package and discuss the results of various dissimilarity indices applied to bivariate point processes. A case study of real data of West African savannas is presented.
