On an atomic orthomodular lattice with the covering property, an intrinsic topology is introduced. In case of the orthomodular lattice of closed subspaces of Hilbert space of dimension at least \(3\), this topology is shown to coincide with the topology induced by the inner product of the Hilbert space. In case of a Boolean algebra, by contrast, the topology is the discrete one.
