The main subject of the book is the notion of pseudo-Jacobian matrices for vectorvalued functions. Many well-known and important differentiability notions of first-order and of second-order can be recognized as special cases of this notion. The authors present a comprehensive survey on the properties of pseudo-Jacobian matrices: different calculus rules, mean-value theorems, Taylor expansions, open-mapping theorems, inverse and implicit function theorems. The results are used for the solution of nonsmooth optimization and complementarity problems and for the characterization of monotone operators and generalized convex functions in terms of pseudo-Jacobian matrices. The explanations are supported by numerous examples.
