Let \(V_\lambda\) denote the simple \({\mathfrak{sl}}_n\)-module with highest weight \(\lambda\). Suppose the dominant weights \(\lambda,\mu,\nu\), and \(\rho\) are such that \(\lambda+\mu=\nu+\rho\). Lam, Postnikov, and Pylyavskyy conjectured a sufficient condition for \(V_\lambda\otimes V_\mu\) to be a submodule of \(V_\nu\otimes V_\rho\). Given \(\lambda\) and \(\mu\), one considers the minimal alcoved polytope \(P_{\lambda,\mu}\) containing \(\lambda\) and \(\mu\). The conjecture asserts that if \(\nu,\rho \in P_{\lambda,\mu}\), then \(V_\lambda\otimes V_\mu\) is a submodule of \(V_\nu\otimes V_\rho\). \vskip1ex In this article, the authors prove a weaker form of this conjecture. Namely, they prove that under the above assumption each simple \({\mathfrak{sl}}_n\)-module that occurs in \(V_\lambda\otimes V_\mu\) does occur in \(V_\nu\otimes V_\rho\). The proof uses the Horn-Klyachko inequalities, and recent results of \textit{B. Rhoades} and \textit{M. Skandera} on Schur-nonnegativity of ''Temperley-Lieb immanants'' [Ann. Comb. 9, No. 4, 451--494 (2005; Zbl 1089.15011)].
