The well-known Krasnosel'skij fixed point theorem asserts that the sum \(K+C\) has a fixed point in a closed, convex and nonempty subset \(X\) of a Banach space \(E\) whenever \(K:X\rightarrow E\) is a contraction, \(C:X\rightarrow E\) is a compact map and, for all \(x,y\in X\), \(K(x)+C(y)\in X\). It is reasonable to consider instead of the sum \(K+C\) a composite map of the form \(X \ni x \mapsto T(K(x), C(x))\), where a (usually nonlinear) operator \(T:E\times E\rightarrow E\) replaces the sum \(+:E\times E\rightarrow E\) and \(K,C\) are suitable set-valued maps. Starting with this idea, the authors of this interesting paper introduce the class of single- and set-valued Krasnosel'skij-type maps and construct a fixed point index theory for these classes. Finally, various applications to constrained differential inclusions and equations are given.
