Let \(K(n)^*(\;)\) denote the \(n\)-th Morava \(K\)-theory, a generalized cohomology theory with\break \(K(n)^* (pt) = {\mathbb F}_p[v^{\pm 1}_n]\), and let \(K(G, q)\) denote the Eilenberg-Maclane space, characterized by the property that \(\pi_m(K(G, q)) = G\) if \(m = q\) and \(0\) for other \(m>0\). \textit{D. C. Ravenel} and \textit{W. S. Wilson} [Am. J. Math. 102, 691--748 (1980; Zbl 0466.55007)] showed that for \(G = {\mathbb Z}\) the \(H\)-space structure of \(K ({\mathbb Z}, q)\) makes \(K(n)^* (K(\mathbb Z, q))\) into a formal group. The paper under review studies this structure using the Dieudonné correspondence between Hopf algebras and Dieudonné modules. The main result is that for \(0 < q <n\) there is an isomorphism of formal groups between \(K(n)^*(K({\mathbb Z}, q +1))\) and the Serre dual or twisted Serre dual (according to whether \(n\) is odd or even) of \(K(n)^* K ({\mathbb Z}, n - q+1)\). The authors also identify the isogeny classes of these formal groups over an algebraically closed field.
