The authors study the extension of a regularized collocation method for Fredholm integral equations of the first kind. They treat the number of collocation points \(n\) and the number of indirect noisy observations \(m\) separately. They show that for deterministic data noise, the number \(m\) can be much smaller than \(n\) and obtain the order of accuracy that cannot be improved in general. A posteriori choice of the regularization parameter which yields the best possible accuracy without the knowledge of the index function describing the smoothness of the true solution is also discussed.
