The author deals with the eikonal equation \[ \begin{aligned} \langle A(x)\nabla d(x),\nabla d(x)\rangle= 1, &\quad x\in\Omega,\\ d(x)= 0,&\quad x\in\partial\Omega, \end{aligned} \] where \(\langle\cdot,\cdot\rangle\) denotes the standard Euclidean scalar product and \(\nabla d\) is the gradient of the function \(d\) and \(\Omega\subset\mathbb{R}^n\) is a boundary set, \(A(x)\) is a nonnegative (possibly degenerate) \(n\times n\) matrix. The author addresses the following problem: Can the strata of the cut-locus accumulate on the boundary of \(\Omega\)? The author gives a negative answer to this question, provided that the boundary of \(\Omega\) is non-characteristic.
