The aim of this work is to study how some features of the Brownian motion are modified when the temperature of the bathing medium is not uniform. A large size, heavy colloidal particle is considered in a gaseous or liquid medium made up of small size, light molecules. A non-proportional relation is established between the force undergone by the particle and its thermophoretic velocity.
