Let \(G\) be a domain of the complex plane \(\mathbb C\) with \(0\in G\). Let \(X\) be a topological vector space of holomorphic functions on \(G\). An operator \(T:X\to X\) is called a coefficient multiplier if there exists a sequence \(\sigma(a_k)_{k\geq 0}\) such that for any \(f\in X\) with \(f(z)=\sum^\infty_{k=0} f_kz^k\) around the origin, we have \(Tf(z)=\sum^\infty_{k=0}a_kf_kz^k\). The authors give various examples of this kind of operators (e.g., sequences \(\sigma\) with special growth conditions, Hadamard product operator, Euler differential operator, coefficient multipliers in classical spaces of function theory such as the Hilbert, Hardy or Bergman spaces). For this type of operators, various kinds of cyclicity are characterized. If, in addition, \(X\) is a Banach space, the spectral theory for operators is used to give information how big the set \(C(T)\) of cyclic vectors of \(T\) can be. In this context, regard the results and the references in [Analytic and probabilistic methods in number theory, New Trends Probab. Stat. 4, 489--498 (1997; Zbl 0924.30003)] of the reviewer.
