The authors prove the existence of the scattering operator for the Klein-Gordon equation in three or more dimensions, with power-type nonlinearity, for small data in a weighted Sobolev space, without assuming that the nonlinearity is repulsive. In Theorem 1.1 they prove the existence of the inverse wave operators and in Theorem 1.2 they prove the existence of the wave operators (the final state problem). The combination of these two theorems gives the existence of the scattering operator for small data. Since the authors do not assume that the nonlinearity is repulsive, the restriction on small data is in general necessary, because of the possibility of blow-up of the solutions in a finite time. A novelty of the results of this paper is that the authors construct the scattering operator for nonlinearities of low order \(\sigma\) of growth, with \( 1+\frac{4}{n+2} < \sigma < 1+\frac{4}{n}\) in the case of dimension \(n \geq 3\). This extends previous results by the same authors for one and two dimensions [cf. the authors, Commun. Math. Phys. 267, No. 2, 477--492 (2006; Zbl 1113.81121)].
