The authors consider the equation \(x_{n+1}=f(x_n,x_{n-1},\dots,x_{n-k})\), where \(f\in C(I^{k+1},I)\) is nondecreasing or nonincreasing in each argument. They obtain results about global attractivity of bounded solutions, when every point in \(I\) is an equilibrium point. Then they apply these results to show that every positive solution of \(x_{n+1}=(p+x_{n-k})/(1+x_n)\) (\(k\in\mathbb{N}\) is odd, \(p\in\mathbb{R}\), \(p\geq 1\)) and of \(x_{n+1}=1+x_{n-2k+1}/x_{n-2l}\) (\(k,l\in\{0,1,\dots\}\)) converges to a period-two solution of the respective equation.
