The paper deals with a system of singular integro partial differential equations describing phase transitions of some substance which is confined to a smooth bounded container might undergo. The two relations describing the transition are: an integro-differential equation for the temperature and a variational inclusion for the phase parameter (here, the local proportion of one of the two substances). The authors consider the variational formulation for the integro-differential system coupled with some initial and boundary conditions. The main results of the paper concern the global existence and the long time behaviour of solutions to the variational problem. The \(\omega\)-limit set is also characterized.
