The authors derive and investigate the following growth factor-dependent stem cell dynamics model with distributed delay: \[ \begin{aligned} \frac{dN(t)}{dt}&=-\delta N(t)-\beta(N(t))N(t)+2\beta(N(t-\tau))N(t-\tau)\exp\{-\int_{-\tau}^0\gamma(E(t+s))ds\},\\ \frac{dE(t)}{dt}&=-k E(t)+f(N(t-\tau)) \end{aligned} \] defined for \(t\geq \max\{\tau,T\}\) with initial functions given on \([0,\max\{\tau,T\}]\), where \(\beta, \gamma\) and \(f\) are assumed to be positive and decreasing functions. They discuss the positivity and boundedness of solutions, the existence of steady states, the asymptotic stability of the steady states and the Hopf bifurcation from the steady states. The method they used is the linearization approach and characteristic equation at the steady states.
