This paper deals with a model to describe the interaction of two continuously spatially-structured competing species. The model is formulated as a two-dimensional reaction-diffusion system, with nonhomogeneous Dirichlet conditions. A simplified version assuming the same constant diffusion coefficient for the two species is analyzed. Considering the inter-specific coefficient rate \(k\) as a variable parameter, the asymptotic behaviour of the model is obtained. Provided certain conditions on a certain limit problem (with respect to \(k\)) hold, it is shown that for each \(k\) big enough, the nonnegative solutions to the model converge to a stationary solution as \(t \to \infty\). This short note is a continuation of previous work on the same class of models, made by the same authors, and contains only an outline of the main results. The authors refer to a forthcoming paper for a complete development.
